The Trailing Spouse / Partner Needs A New Job

Accepting a new job often means moving to another city.  While one person is happy and excited, the trailing spouse / partner feels worried about starting over, wondering whether he/she will find a good job in the new city.  

I can help.  I realize what you're going through - I moved my own family too often in my business career.

What can you do?  Here are a few thoughts:

* Prepare two versions of your resume - one for staying in the same line of business you're now in, and another for exploring opportunities in a different industry. 

* Have your spouse or partner ask human resource personnel at their company for names of people they suggest you contact in the new city.

* If you want to consider a new career and can afford to take some time [as little as 60-to-90 days], this is a great opportunity to do so.
